This is the support thread for the Introduction to HLMV Tutorial.

Pdf version can be downloaded here.

If you have any questions or issues with the Half-Life Model Viewer (HLMV) or the tutorial do let me know and I will do my best to help.

Hello. I recently attempted to replace an NPC model in Half Life 2, but after putting the required animation models into the qc, some bone placement became messed up. I was wondering if I could use HLMV to fix the issue or if I have to try something else. At the very least, HLMV showed me which bones were messed up and how, which is a bit of a plus.

Hey,

HLMV is fairly limited in what it can do. For the most part it is just a viewer, it does not have compilation abilities unfortunately.

I think you would need to use the viewer to see what the issues are and manually repair them in Blender, Max, Maya, XSI, whichever Modelling program you use.

Then recompile and view again in HLMV.
